Most companies brag about how many brands they carry. We are going to tell you about the ones we stopped carrying.
Stoots Storage Solutions works with 4 carefully vetted manufacturers. Over the years, we cut ties with 53 others. That number surprises people. It should. It means we turned down a lot of easy sales because we were not willing to put our name on something we did not trust.
How We Got Here
John has been in the metal building business since its early days. He has seen the industry grow fast, and with that growth came a lot of companies that cared more about the sale than the customer. Over time, he became a trusted voice in metal-building Facebook groups, where people ask honest questions and share what really happened with their buildings.
When you hear enough stories from real buyers, and see enough jobs for yourself, patterns show up. Some manufacturers were great to work with. Others had problems we could not overlook.
Why We Walked Away
We are not going to name names. That is not the point, and it would not help you. What matters is the kind of problems that led us to cut ties:
- Quality that did not match what was promised
- Inconsistent product from one order to the next
- Poor communication when something went wrong
- Practices that did not sit right with how we want to treat customers
Each time we walked away, it cost us something. Fewer options to sell. Sometimes a lower price we could no longer offer. But when a building goes up on your property, our name is on it too. We decided long ago that trust was worth more than volume.
What This Means for You
When you buy through us, you are getting a building from a short list we have stood behind for a reason. Pair that with the fact that we pour the foundation and install the building ourselves, and you have one company accountable from the ground up. See our about page for more on who we are.
John’s 4-Step Check for Any Building Company
Here is the same advice John gives people in Facebook groups, whether they buy from us or not. Use it on any metal building company, including us.
1. Check Their Facebook Business Page
Go to the company’s Facebook business page and look for reviews. If reviews are not showing, move on. A company with happy customers has no reason to hide what they say.
2. Make Sure They Have Been Around
Confirm the company has been in business more than a couple of years. New companies are not automatically bad, but a track record gives you something to check.
3. Watch for Fake Reviews
Read the reviews, do not just count stars. Red flags include odd or foreign-sounding names that do not fit the area, and lots of reviews posted very close together. Real reviews trickle in over time and mention real details.
4. Repeat the Check on Google
Do the same review check on Google. A company should hold up on both. If the story on Google is very different from Facebook, ask why.
A Few More Smart Questions
- Who pours the foundation, and who is responsible if the building and slab do not match up?
- Can they provide engineered drawings for your county?
- Who do you call after install if something is wrong?
- Will they put your quote and the payment terms in writing?
Our Promise
We would rather lose a sale than sell something we would not put on our own land. If we are not the right fit for your project, we will tell you that too.

Common Questions
Which manufacturers did you cut ties with?
We do not name them. What matters is that we walked away over quality and integrity concerns and now work with 4 manufacturers we trust.
How can I tell if a metal building company is legit?
Check their Facebook business page for reviews, confirm they have been in business more than a couple of years, watch for fake reviews, and repeat the check on Google.
What do fake reviews look like?
Watch for odd or foreign-sounding names that do not fit the area and many reviews posted very close together.
Why does it matter who pours the foundation?
When one company does both concrete and building, the foundation is built to fit the building and one company is accountable for the result.
