Next to Virginia, North Carolina is where we work the most. Our home base in Southwest Virginia sits close to the state line, so heading down into the High Country, the Piedmont, or farther east is a normal week for us.
Mountains, Piedmont, and coastal plain
North Carolina gives you three different building problems. In the western mountains you plan for snow load, steep driveways, and making a level pad on a hillside. Through the Piedmont it is mostly about clay soil, drainage, and summer storms. Out east on the coastal plain and near the Outer Banks, hurricanes and high wind are the main concern, and humidity is constant.
For coastal jobs we talk a lot about anchoring and certified wind loads. For mountain jobs a vertical roof is the easy pick because it lets snow slide off. Anywhere humid, ask about condensation control so you are not dealing with drips on your truck or tools.
Common North Carolina projects
- Tobacco, hay, and equipment barns on working farms
- Boat covers and enclosed boat storage near the sounds and lakes
- Detached garages and woodworking shops in the suburbs
- RV covers for mountain and lake property
- Barndominium shells on rural acreage
Turnkey from the dirt up
We can handle the whole job: site review, prep, footers poured below local frost depth, a 4-inch slab, and the steel building delivered, set, anchored, and checked before we leave. You deal with one company. See how our concrete foundations work and what to expect at each pour.
Your county decides the rules
North Carolina counties set their own permit process, and coastal counties can be stricter on wind design than mountain counties. Setbacks, footer inspections, and whether you need sealed drawings all vary. Call your county building inspections office before you order. We can supply engineered drawings when they are needed.
Picking the right manufacturer
We work with four carefully vetted manufacturers and cut ties with 53 others over quality and integrity concerns. That matters in a state with as many different conditions as North Carolina. A building headed for a windy lot near the coast and one going up on a snowy ridge in the High Country do not have the same needs, and we match the building to the site.
Enclosed buildings can go on our rent-to-own plan with 15% down, and payments run about 25% lower than typical rent-to-own programs. Open carports are not eligible. Call or text 276-235-1191 or send us your project.
Common Questions
