Small state, big range of conditions
Western Maryland, out in Garrett and Allegany counties, gets heavy snow and long cold winters. Central Maryland is suburban with tighter lots and more rules. The Eastern Shore and the Bay side deal with flat ground, high water tables, humidity, and wind coming off the water.
Snow country calls for a vertical roof and a close look at certified snow load. Near the Bay, think about anchoring, wind, and condensation. Every building we sell is certified for local loads, with engineered drawings available.

Permits are usually part of the deal
Many Maryland counties take permits seriously, and some neighborhoods have HOA rules on top of that. Critical area rules near the Bay can also affect where you can build. Call your county permits office early and ask about setbacks, frost depth for footers, and whether you need engineered drawings.
Vetting any building company
John gives the same advice to everyone shopping for a metal building, no matter who they buy from. Check the company’s Facebook business page, and if reviews are not showing, move on. Make sure they have been in business more than a couple of years. Watch for fake reviews, like odd foreign names or a lot of reviews posted very close together. Then do the same check on Google. That goes for us too.
If you live on a farm in Western Maryland or the upper Eastern Shore, an ag building may be handled differently than a backyard garage. Ask your county which category your building falls under.
